Most guests enjoy the amazing view, as all rooms, villas and suites overlook either the Waterfront Park and Okanagan Lake, the lagoon, the city, or the mountains.  The rooms are refined and spotlessly clean.  Service is excellent, as is the food in the hotel’s seven restaurants.  You can also walk to several pubs and fine restaurants nearby.

However, precisely because of its price and reputation some reviewers expected more, and noted too was slightly outmoded décor which, under new management, is being addressed.

Tourists enjoy the short, three-block walk to trendy downtown Kelowna.  Other attractions are Guischan Heritage Park, Klo Orchards, Old MacDonald’s Farm, and The Bear Golf Course.

Guest Rooms

The hotel’s guest rooms have cable TV, coffeemakers, irons/boards, individual climate controls, two telephones, desks, alarm clock radios, hairdryers, and in most rooms, mini-bars.

The 24-hour front desk offers tour assistance, concierge, a business center, fax/photocopy, currency exchange, wake-up calls, ATM, laundry/valet, shops, safe deposit box, and parking (fee). There is also a gym, indoor and outdoor pools, hot tubs, sauna, lockers, classes, and personal trainers.

Function Rooms

This hotel has three function rooms.  The Grand Ballroom, 15,652 square feet, can be divided into seven rooms and seat 1500-2,000.  The Grand Foyer and Terrace, another function room, has an elegant portico leading to a 6,000 square foot terrace overlooking the swimming pool, courtyard and Okanagan Lake.  Finally, nine Breakout Rooms, some with balconies, fit 6 – 100 people.

The Accent Inn is situated near downtown Kelowna on the corner of Harvey Avenue and Gordon; and central to many restaurants, shops, art galleries, and recreational facilities.  The surrounding area is known as a recreational paradise with skiing at Big White, a variety of golf courses to choose among, beaches, orchards, wineries (Wine Museum, Gray Monk Cellars, etc), and the beautiful Okanagan Lake.

The Accent Inn has 102 rooms.  Of the total 26 have kitchenettes, seven are King Rooms, and 12 are one-bedroom suites.  There are also three handicap-equipped rooms.  Nonsmoking rooms are available upon request.

All rooms are fully air conditioned with modem outlets and large working desks.  The rooms and suites are spacious, with queen and king size beds and Beautyrest mattresses.

Each room is fully secured with a separate dead-bolt and door viewer.  There are in-room fresh brewed coffee and tea, pay per view movies, blow dryers, iron and ironing boards, mini fridges, free wireless access and a complimentary newspaper.

Function Rooms:

The Accent Inn’s Vineyard Room has 700 square feet of space available.  It can be utilized as a boardroom for 30; a theatre room for 50; a classroom for 25; or a reception room for 45 guests. Amenities include two lakeside pools–one with a waterslide, two hot tubs, a beach, putting green, barbeque area, beach fire pits, tennis court, movie theatre for 16, a teen activity centre, marina with 50 slips, Spa at the Cove, a Bikram Yoga Centre, a gym and gift shop.

For dining there is the Bonfire Restaurant & Bar with a wood stone oven and an open style kitchen.  Inspired by the Southwest and Mexico, this casual yet upscale restaurant’s creative menu is the work of Executive Chef Edan Fay who has a passion for regional foods.

This hotel is situated in what is called Canada’s “Napa North”, just minutes from Westbank and a short drive to Kelowna.  It is close to award-winning wineries and championship golf courses.  Other activities are mountain biking, hiking, horseback riding and winter skiing.

Guest Rooms:

There are 150 one, two and three bedroom suites, ranging in size from 931 to 2,381 square feet.  The suites have a lovely view of either the swimming pool or the lake with a lush mountain view.  Living room amenities include living and dining areas, a fireplace, 42″ television with a DVD player, wireless internet, floor to ceiling windows, French doors leading to oversize patios or balconies, and complete balcony furniture.  There is also a gourmet kitchen with a wine fridge and stainless steel appliances.  Each bedroom has down pillows, duvets, and a full, private bathroom with deep soaking tubs, Acca Kappa toiletries, and waffle robes.  A suite also has a washer and dryer.

Function Rooms:

For recreation there is an indoor heated pool and a Jacuzzi.  When in season, the sundeck is also available.  The fitness room is well stocked with good exercise equipment, independent reviewers say.  The hotel also has its own restaurant on site, and a deluxe continental buffet breakfast is served that is complimentary with your stay.

The location of this hotel is quite ideal in that if you don’t have a car and would like other eating options, there is an East Side Mario’s and other restaurants just a short walk away.  For other needs, Walmart and other stores are just across the street.

This hotel is also just 10 minutes away from either the airport or downtown Kelowna, and close to Okanagan Lake.  For a more enjoyable experience, the Holiday Inn Express also offers tour packages to nearby, award-winning golf courses, ski resorts, and area tours of wineries and vineyards.

Guest Rooms:

This four floor hotel has two suites which have separate sleeping room and living room areas.  The regular rooms are spacious and comfortable, and independent reviews have lauded its helpful staff and overall cleanliness.  However, guests are advised to avoid any rooms near the elevator.  Guest rooms may have a queen bed and twin bed.  Facilities in all rooms include an in-room coffee maker, hair dryer, 25″ color T.V. , voice mail, dataport, clock radio, iron/ironing board, air conditioning, microwaves and refrigerators.

Function Rooms:

There are also restaurants of various cuisines and budgets, from fine dining to fast food. The hotel itself has O’ Flannigan’s Pub and Deli (in a separate building), and an on-site beer & specialty wine store.

Guest Rooms:
The guest rooms have either two queen beds or a king bed with a separate sitting area. Don’t expect a flat screen, but there is a TV set. The bed might be a bit firm, but not so much that you won’t get a good night’s sleep. There are necessary facilities for business trips –fax ports, irons/boards, coffee makers, hair dryers, automatic voice mail, and desks with lights.

The front desk will assist with printouts (spreadsheets, notes, correspondence), receiving or sending faxes, making/reconfirming travel arrangements, guest e-mail message service, complimentary high speed lobby internet, and high speed wireless internet access.

Function rooms:
The Royal Anne has meeting and banquet rooms for weddings, seminars, et. al. for 10-160 people, with a selection of catering menus.

Summary:
Don’t expect luxury at the Royal Anne in Kelowna. There is no Jacuzzi and the carpet may seem a bit worn. If you can overlook these details however, there is good service, value for money, and a high overall independent rating of 4-1/2 stars from guests. Continue Reading »

Deluxe Guestrooms have either one king bed or two queen beds, a private balcony, a business desk, complimentary wireless internet, and wheelchair accessibility.

The one-bedroom suite is also sizeable with a beautiful view, a living room that includes a table and four chairs, CD, DVD player and mp3 capable stereo, and a fully stocked kitchen.

A review of the two-bedroom beachfront villa noted it is “worth the extra cost” for its lakeside patio, spacious living room and kitchen; king room with a deck, and bathroom toiletries.

Function Rooms:

Manteo has waterfront meeting rooms and boardrooms, plus three conference rooms for up to 200. Breakout rooms for smaller sessions have views of Okanagan Lake.  The hotel has a Meeting and Event Specialist to assist in scheduling golf tournaments, wine and meal excursions, boating and outdoor adventures. Reviews by people who have stayed here are largely positive, and one reviewer was delighted that in the hotel restaurant Def Leppard was just two tables away.  Hotel restaurants include the Vintage Room which is distinguished for its cuisine and selection of wines from the region and around the world; Vintner’s Poolside Grill which features jazz and blues on Friday nights, Bluelines Sport & Comedy Club with interactive sports games, satellite feeds, plus YukYuk’s comedy shows three nights a week; and Coffecopia Gourmet Coffee Bar with specialty coffees.  Room service is 24-hours.

If you choose to eat out or go shopping there is the Capri Centre Mall nearby with Winners, A & B Sound and 40 other stores; and a grocery store.  Starbucks is across the street, and De Dutch (for breakfast) and Fat Burger (for lunch) are a few steps away.

Other hotel amenities include a complimentary hotel shuttle service to the airport and in the city, a heated outdoor swimming pool and hot tub which many customers favored, a 24-hour gym, 24-hour business centre, free car and bus parking, free in-room wireless internet, and the Beyond Wrapture Day Spa.  This hotel is pet friendly.

There are three room options at the El Dorado.  The Heritage Rooms feature old world charm with modern comfort, showcasing antiques and Okanagan memorabilia.  Each guestroom has its own character and motif such as claw footed tubs, vintage radios, and a beautiful lake view.  Balconies are on select second and third floor rooms.  Second is the Arms Guestrooms, 30 of them, and third are six Arms Lakeview Luxury Suites.  All these are in the new wing.  Cork flooring, custom woodwork, posh furnishings, duvets, DVD players, deluxe washrooms and 8 ft floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook Okanagan Lake are some amenities of select guestrooms.  The suites have jetted-Jacuzzi tubs overlooking Okanagan Lake, 42″ Sony LCD TVs, jetted body spray showers, fireplaces and mini kitchens (fridges, microwaves, dishwashers and toasters) in these 620 sq. ft units.

Function Rooms:
